When he graduated as an optician in 1999, Jean-Philippe Douis did not yet know where his tribulations would lead him. When he enters the trade with a series of replacements (22 on the counter), he has an intuition: we must relocate the production. Not one to stand idly by, so he designed a first collection that he entrusted to a French workshop. Cocorico ! He saw it right: proximity and authenticity are a great success. Their standard mounts on the nose, the NAONED addicts form an increasingly large community Today, NAONEDS are carried to Manhattan (already a dozen outlets in NYC), but the brand’s DNA remains proudly rooted in the premise. The collections are entirely made in France, lovingly preserving the know-how of traditional eyewear. A vision asserted, nourished by generosity… for real !
MANUFACTURED IN FRANCE,

In contrast to the global trend, our bet is to restore the local’s coat of the house. Put on your glasses for a brief historical reminder: in 1980, there were 250 manufacturing workshops, today there are about ten left. It may be a detail for you, but for us it means a lot. We have criss-crossed France to find rare pearls, passionate manufacturers who perpetuate the French lunettier know-how. To make our carbon footprint as light as your beautiful frames…

More local, it’s impossible ! Opened in January 2021, PLAN was born in the garage of NAONED. KÊR frames are made there, in acetate, as well as our small Nanoned. Local production, 3 kilometers from our offices. The glasses were created thanks to a great team of 10 people, cradled in the glasses. A project that was obvious!
Villeroy’s Eyewear
For this leg of the trip, we visit the Burgundian branch of production. Welcome to Céline and José Simoes de La lunetterie de Villeroy. In this family workshop, some thirty employees perpetuate season after season the love of old-fashioned work… leveraging state-of-the-art technology. Like a hyphen between yesterday and tomorrow !
Lucal Eyewear
With 30 years of experience in the industry, Lucal is a recognized expert in the eyewear production cycle from A to Z, from design to delivery of the final product. Based in Oyonnax in the French Jura, Lucal stands out thanks to its highly qualified workforce, including several “Meilleurs Ouvriers de France”.
DESIGN
We do not forget that our primary job is that of optician. Years of adjusting glasses on faces with a nose, two eyes and two ears (not exhaustive list), it gave us a lot of ideas to develop your frames. Because before you are pretty, your glasses must be mostly comfortable and allow you to see it clean. This is the kind of challenge that stimulates us: transforming a technical product into an aesthetic prosthesis, so that your frames always give you a great look.
MATERIAL
Exit the vulgar plastic ! We use cellulose acetate, a material derived from wood or cotton cellulose, which combines a beautiful resistance with an incomparable aesthetic result. Easy to cut and dye, this acetate resists life, sea baths, laughter and lunches on the terrace. Eco-compatible, it is also hypoallergenic. Our supplier is based in Italy, the cradle of the most beautiful houses.
Our metal frames are made from traditional eyewear optical alloys: nickel silver, monel, bronze and are treated with a hypoallergenic varnish. A guarantee of quality and longevity, for real.
OUR MATERIAL
For our Dibenn range, we now use our own bio-acetate, manufactured hand in hand with Breton partners (around 200km away). We also recycle all the scraps from our PLAN workshop, to make new material!
SOLUTIONS
Our NAONED know how to adapt: if most of them have offset tenons, it is to enable small heads to be fitted, but also strong corrections … without bottleneck effect.
